PLO 4: Cooperate in language planning activities in formulating a national language policy.  <\/span><\/p>\n

PLO 5: Restate the regional, social dialects and assist the bilingual \/ multilingual community. <\/span><\/p>\n

PLO 6: Create mono lingual, bilingual and multi lingual dictionaries.<\/span><\/p>\n

PLO 7: Reframe anthropological research through linguistic knowledge on aesthetics, culture, <\/span><\/p>\n

              religion language and other anthropological element.<\/span><\/p>\n

Those\nwho successfully complete the BA Special Degree program in English Literature\noffered by the Department of Linguistics & English, University of Jaffna\nwill be able to<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 1:   demonstrate\na broad understanding of key traditions of English Literature such as the\nBritish canon, postcolonial and transnational literatures.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 2:   analyze\nliterary texts by focusing on the thematic, formal, structural, linguistic and\nstylistic aspects of those texts.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 3:   present\ninsightful analysis of the literary texts they study by situating them in the\nsocial, political, cultural and economic milieus in which they were produced.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 4:   produce\ninsightful interpretations of literary texts using different theoretical and\nanalytical frameworks.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 5:   write\nscholarly essays and presentations on literary texts, films, theatrical\nproductions and other cultural objects such as advertisements and billboards in\nline with appropriate academic conventions.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 6:   demonstrate\nclear understanding of the socio-cultural, political and economic roles\nlanguage plays with specific focus on the English language.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 7:   publish the\nresearch they conduct via appropriate methods. <\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 8:   present\nconstructive feedback on the work done by their peers in the field of English\nstudies.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 9:   put\nliterary studies and language studies in conversation with other disciplines\nand fields of study.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 10: deploy\nliterature as a way of intervening in social situations that are\ndiscriminatory, exploitative and exclusionary.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 11: initiate\nprocesses that aim towards strengthening pluralist, multi-cultural values by\ngiving a central place to literature and language in those processes.<\/o:p><\/p>

PLO 12: teach\nEnglish literature and English language at the high-school and tertiary levels.<\/o:p><\/p>
